Dorothy was born September 23, 1921 in Manchester, Ohio to Mary and William Applegate. She was the eldest of five children. Read More	Dorothy L., our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and good friend to all passed away peacefully on July 12, 2013 at home in Provo, Utah. Dorothy was born September 23, 1921 in Manchester, Ohio to Mary and William Applegate. She was the eldest of five children. She spent her early life in Manchester before moving with her family to Ripley, Ohio. She attended Ripley High School. In 1940, Dorothy married the love of her life, Glenn D. Minton and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1945, she was blessed by the birth of her only child, Dr. Stephen Minton. Dorothy was a dedicated and supportive mother who attended every event and activity involving her son. She dedicated her life to her family and set the type of example that every woman should follow. Dorothy's sweetheart, Glenn, died on April 4, 1984. Dorothy was significantly hearing impaired from early life. Later she suffered almost total blindness from macular degeneration. These handicaps did not impair her outlook on life or sense of humor. She used them as opportunities. Despite these handicaps, she lived alone for 28 years. Dorothy was a dedicated member of the Church of the Nazarene. She served 54 years in junior church. She was a tireless worker. She received multiple local and national awards in the Church of the Nazarene. She positively influenced countless young lives. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of the Church of the Nazarene in the United States. Dorothy in later years was recognized by the Clermont County Senior Citizens as Senior Citizen of the Year for 2 years in a row. She is survived by her brother, Rev. Virgil Applegate; son, Dr. Stephen (Joni) Minton, grandchildren: Mark, Melissa (Brandon), Michael, Alexandria (Robert), and Christian, 3 great-grandchildren: Avery, Bryce and Damien. One year before her death, she moved to Provo, Utah to be near her family. She spent that year at the Courtyard at Jamestown. We would like to thank the staff there for their loving care of mom. Although our loss is devastating, her life was a gift and her legacy will be cherished by all who knew her. A special memorial service was held July 16 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Provo, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11:00 am at the E. C. Nurre Funeral Home, 177 W. Main Street, Amelia, Ohio with a viewing from 9:00-11:00 am prior to services. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Manchester, Ohio. www.ecnurre.com
