Read More	ALLGOOD, DOROTHY MAE—Dorothy Mae (Lovegrove) Allgood was born to Roy and Ruth (Anderson) Lovegrove on a farm located southwest of Fairmont in Geneva township on August 20, 1927, and passed away on December 24, 2008, at Heritage Crossings in Geneva at the age of 81, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the second of four children. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist church in Fairmont. Dorothy lived all her life in Geneva township, attending District No. 81 country school and graduating from Geneva High School with the class of 1944. Having spent her high school years in the midst of the World War II era, she went to work for Safeway in Geneva after graduation. She met and married Charlie Allgood on October 6, 1949, in the United Methodist Church in Geneva. Moreover, they settled on a farm northwest of Geneva where they farmed, started a family, and built their home in stages, completing it in 1952. They were blessed with four children, Stanley, Virginia, Steven and Victoria. Dorothy worked alongside Charlie on the farm and did all of the normal farm wife duties of the time. She fed the pigs, gathered the eggs, milked the cow, besides helping lay out pipe, cultivate, and harvest; anywhere and everywhere needed. Families grew very close during those times for they worked, played and met challenges as a unit. Members had their own duties and responsibilities, which provided the very best of foundations upon which to grow. She was always a busy farm wife with a bustling family. In the early 1960’s, she was a census taker where she enjoyed meeting and visiting with many people from around the various countries. As the family grew up, she fulfilled the leadership of Cub Scout Den Mother and 4-H leader for many years and was always involved in the Geneva Township Extension Club. She always cared about others and tended to put them first. Her family was the center of her being and was always very important to her. As the family grew, went forth on their own, and moved on, her grandsons were her joy. When riding in the car with the grandchildren, the first one to see a train she would be the first to say “Toot toot…peanut butter” or watch for windmills in the farmyards. Grandma had that “knack,” as some grandma’s do and that remained unexplained when she was with the grandchildren. Time and again when one of them was feverish or teething and just could not be comforted, and had worn out Mom and Dad, it only took a few minutes on Grandma’s lap and they fell into a restful and contented sleep. It never failed, she just had the touch. She was an excellent cook. Her pumpkin pies were the discussion as to “who” would get to take leftovers home; and there never was a better apple pie baked than when Grandma Allgood made it. Cousins would request Aunt Dorothy’s macaroni and cheese; even to the time of a recent gathering. She made it all look so easy, yet no one could duplicate her results. She and Charlie made the big move from the farm to their condominium in Geneva in October of 2001. Proximity of town was a welcome benefit as she could manage to do the things she wanted to so much more easily. As health issues continued to arise, they made the move to Heritage Assisted Living in August of 2008. Dorothy was a 50-plus year member of the Fairmont Methodist Church (now the Community Church) a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Rebekah Lodge and Geneva Township Extension Club. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Roy Lovegrove; brothers, Bob and Maury; sister-in-law, Lettie Schulz; brothers-in-law Bud Daniels, E.F. Allgood and Frank William Allgood and in-laws, Clinton and Naomi Allgood. She is survived by her husband, Charlie; daughters, Virginia and husband, Mike Johnson and Vicki Allgood; sons, Stan, and Steve; five grandsons, Cory and wife, Leslie Johnson; Scott and wife, Steph Johnson; Adam and wife, Melanie Johnson; Erick Allgood and fiancée, Angie Doesch; and Aaron Allgood; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Mason, and Clayton Johnson; Ellie Johnson and Amelia Johnson; brother, Don Lovegrove and wife, Roma; sisters-in-law, Gerry Daniels and Shirley Ward, Barbara Allgood, Lucille Allgood; brother-in-law Robert Schulz, Vera Clark, nieces, nephews and a host of friends and cousins. Funeral services were held on December 27, at the Geneva United Methodist Church with Pastors Ron Harris and Eric Biehl officiating. Judy Ackland was the organist and accompanied the congregation in the singing of “How Great Thou Art,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” and “In the Garden.” Pallbearers for the service were Cory Johnson, Scott Johnson, Adam Johnson, Eric and Aaron Allgood, Doug and Dan Lovegrove.
