She passed away at the Clarkson Memorial Hospital in Omaha, Ne., October 10, 1985, at the age of 59 years, 8 months, and 1 day, after an extended illness. Dorothy spent most of her early years on a farm north of Esbon. She married Donald Kennedy May 18, 1947. To this union four children were born: Ronald, Keith, Lyle, and Pamela. Dorothy and Don moved to Villisca, Iowa, in 1953 and then to Tabor, Iowa in 1958. She worked at the Tabor Manor in the dietary department from September of 1962 until about two months before her death. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, and her infant son Keith. She leaves to mourn her three children: Ron, Lyle, and Pam; four grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, and other relatives and friends in both Iowa and Kansas. She will be missed by everyone. Memorial services were held Saturday, October 12, 10:00 a.m. at Crawford-Reeves-Marshall Funeral Home, Tabor, la., with Rev. Lauris Meek officiating. The organist was Mrs. Donald Douglass. The song selections were “In the Garden,” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Mrs. Loren Lawrence had charge of the memory book. The honorary casket bearers were Kay Kilpatrick, Ron Condon, Loren Lawrence, Leonard Worcester, Marvin Brammer, and John Cleveland. Memorial services were held on Monday, October 14, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Lebanon, Ks., with Rev. Laura Beth Arnett officiating. The organist was Neta Shipley. The casket bearers were Glen Matousek, Hal Stephens, Kent Kennedy, Roger McCaulley, Charles Stokes and Carl Kennedy. Interment was in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Esbon, Ks. (Lebanon Times, Lebanon, Kansas, October, 17, 1985. The obituary was adapted her to exclude the specific date and place of birth and some information about living persons.)
