She was born April 20, 1928, in Liberty Center Township, Ohio, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Bargeman) Wittenberg. On Sept. 25, 1949, she marred Donald E. Burk, who passed away October 10, 2008. Dorothy was a long-time hair dresser, a lifelong homemaker and she assisted on the family farm. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Defiance, and she was a member of the Defiance Kidney Foundation. Dorothy truly loved being surrounded by her family and friends. Surviving are three sons, Gale Burk (Gloria Conquest), Richard (Carol) Burk and Ronald (Julie) Burk, all of Defiance; six grandchildren, Dan, Julie, Lindsey, Erin, Jenna, and Alyssa; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ethelda Gerken of Napoleon, Ohio, Esther Fritz of Holgate and Evelyn McMaster of Howe, Ind. Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; an infant son, Tommy Burk; a granddaughter, Kristina Burk; and a sister, Valeta Hess. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Defiance. Burial will be at Evansport Cemetery with Rev. David Brobston presiding.
