Girard, one of our highly respected citizens, passed away Sunday night. for several months he has been a sufferer from cancer and made several trips to the famous Mayo Brothers at Rochester, but there was nothing that could be done to relieve his suffering, and thru it all he was a patient sufferer. Dr. Girard has been a resident of Clyde many years, and was looked upon as an exceptionally good physician, and will be greatly missed by his scores of friends. Funeral services were held from the Catholic church this Wednesday morning at 9:30, and burial was made in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. We were unable to get a complete obituary of this good man for this issue but will have the same for next week. Clyde Voice-Republican Thursday April 29, 1920 Page 1 Dr. A. G. Girard was born in Maryville, Canada, Oct. 21, 1870 and departed this life at Clyde, Kansas, April 18, 1920 at the age of 49 years, 5 months, and 28 days. He was a student of the Faculate de Laval Medical School at Montreal, graduating in 1894. Shortly after, he became a citizen of Clyde, where he practiced medicine until the time of his death. Among the men of his own profession eh was held in high esteem, and the doctors of Clyde wish to express their sorrow at the loss of one whose counsel and assistance they valued so highly. In 1898 he was united in marriage to Miss Corrine Beland of St. Joseph. To Dr and Mrs. Girard was born one daughter, Geraldine. He leaves to mourn, besides his wife and daughter, a brother, Joseph of Maryville, Canada, and a sister, Marie of the same place, besides numerous friends. The funeral of Dr. Girard was held Wednesday morning, April 21, at 9 o’clock at St. John’s Church, Rev. Father Spoorenberg officiating. the knights of Columbus of which lodge he was a faithful member, attended the funeral in a body and presided at the services. Burial was made in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
