Description	:	WESTMINSTER, SC – Dr. David Garland Johnson died peacefully at Northeast Georgia Hospital in Gainesville, GA on Friday, June 15, at the age of 82. Born in Latta, SC, he was the son of the late Franklin and Helen Butler Johnson. Dr. Johnson graduated from Latta High School and went on to attend Wofford College. After graduating from Wofford College, Dr. Johnson attended the Dentistry School at The Medical College of Virginia. Read More	WESTMINSTER, SC – Dr. David Garland Johnson died peacefully at Northeast Georgia Hospital in Gainesville, GA on Friday, June 15, at the age of 82. Born in Latta, SC, he was the son of the late Franklin and Helen Butler Johnson. Dr. Johnson graduated from Latta High School and went on to attend Wofford College. After graduating from Wofford College, Dr. Johnson attended the Dentistry School at The Medical College of Virginia. Upon completion of his Dentistry School Dr. Johnson worked one year in practice at the Florida State Prison System. Dr. Johnson continued his career in dentistry for over 40 years at his practice in Westminster, where he was well known. He was a Captain in the US Army where he served in the Dental Corps for two years in Germany. Dr. Johnson was known for his involvement in the Dental profession for which he was a member of The American Dental Association, The South Carolina Dental Association, Piedmont District Dental Society, and Tri-County Dental Society. Dr. Johnson not only was involved in the dental community but also involved in community in which he lived in, as a former Mayor of Westminster, he was a member of the Jaycees and the Westminster American Legion. Dr. Johnson is survived by his daughter, Claudia Johnson of Pendleton; sister, Helen Doris Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Chancellor H Johnson; sister, Miriam Lucille Brock. A prayer service will be will be held 6:30 pm, Monday, June 18th at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel, the family will receive friends prior to the prayer service from 5-6 pm at Sandifer Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, June, 19th at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, 6757 Watson Bay Court in Marion, South Carolina. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Sandifer Funeral Home is assisting the family in Westminster, SC and Kannaday Funeral Home is assisting the family in Dillon, SC.
