Johnson, near 79 years old, passed away at Lutheran Hospital last Friday, March 2, after a long illness. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church of Dayton on Monday, March 5, with Reverend George Den Hartog officiating and with Carsons of Dayton in charge of the arrangements. There was special organ music by Mrs. Jerry Johnson, Mrs. V. M. Stark and Mrs. Mildred Vegors cared for the flowers. Casket bearers were A. L. Holmstrom, Earl Hedberg, Byron Johnson, Lloyd Johnson, Olger Strand and Van Gabrielson. Interment was made in the new Mausoleum at the Dayton Cemetery. The Masonic Service was given at the cemetery. Mr. Henry Johnson was a member of one of the early families here, and was well known to most of the elder citizens of the area. He practiced as a Chiropractor here for many years, or until frail health forced him to retire. Survivors include his wife and their one daughter, Mrs. Othel Steele of Burnside. Johnson, a well known osteopathic physician, passed away at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge Friday morning, March 2, 1962 after a long illness. He would have been 79 years of age on March 5. The son of Peter D. and Elna Johnson, Henry Johnson was born March 5, 1883 on a farm east of Dayton. It was here that he spent his boyhood days. He received his education in a rural school near the farm home. Later, he attended the Stratford High School and graduated in 1903. Following graduation, he attended Valparaiso University in Indiana and then taught in the rural schools of Webster County. On December 29, 1909, he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Tell of Harcourt. They settled on a farm east of Dayton. The couple moved to Fort Dodge in 1910. He served as Deputy Recorder under Miss Lauderdale. They came back to the Dayton farm where they remained until 1917 when they moved to Des Moines. There he attended Des Moines Osteopathic College, graduating in 1921. That same year, he entered practice of Osteopathic in Dayton. Dr. Johnson took post-graduate work at Denver Post Clinic College in Denver, Colorado; Kirksville College, Kirksville, Missouri; Los Angeles, California and special work at Des Moines Still College. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and Knights of Pythias. Besides work with civic organizations, Dr. Johnson served on the Board of Trustees, Vocational Guidance and other committees from this district. Dr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Othel Steele (Bernadine) of Burnside and a cousin, Mrs. C. E. Peterson, of Stratford, with whom he made his home while in high school, other relatives and numerous friends. A kind and loving husband and father, he was deeply interested in the welfare of his family and was always ready and willing to help others in time of need as long as his health permitted him to do so. Funeral services for Dr. H. E. Johnson were held March 5 in the Methodist Church in Dayton. The Rev. George Den Hartog officiated and Carsons of Dayton were in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Jerry Johnson provided special organ music. The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Vernard Stark and Mrs. Mildred Vegors. Casket bearers were A. L. Holmstrom, Earl Hedberg, Byron Johnson, Lloyd Johnson, Olger Strand and Van Gabrielson. Interment was made in the new Mausoleum at the Dayton Cemetery. The Masonic service was given at the cemetery.
