Irvine, 79, retired pastor of the Birmingham Presbyterian church, died unexpectedly Saturday at 11 a.m. at his home at Fairfield. He was born December 11, 1879, at Oelwein, the son of Samuel and Mary Clark Irvine. On December 5, 1906, he was married to Lavinia Greer at Monticello. She died July 6 of this year. Donald Irvine of Taipeh, Taiwan, Walter Irvine of Highland Park, Ill.; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Carried Sherman of Iowa City, Mrs. Helen Brisbois and Mrs. Elizabeth Dick-Peddie of Minneapolis and three brothers, Mark of Des Moies, Harold of Santa Ana, Calif., and Ruppert of Sedalia, Mo. One brother preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Princeton university, a charter member of the Van Buren County Minister's association, and a member of the Fairfield Presbyterian church. He was minister of the Birmingham Presbyterian church for 35 years until he retired in 1957 and moved to Fairfield. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. (DST) at the Birmingha Presbyterian church. Dr. C.R. Douglass of the Fairfield Presbyterian church and the Rev. Leroy Persohn, local pastor, will be in charge. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemtery. The body is at the Burch funeral home.
