CRABB, 91, a Topeka doctor who served more than 48 years in his profession. He died Friday in a local hospital. Dr. Crabb retired in 1954 on his 85th birthday. Serivces will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Central Congregational Chruch for Dr. John A. CRABB, 91, a Topeka doctor who served more than 48 years in his profession. He died Friday in a local hospital. Dr. Crabb retired in 1954 on his 85th birthday. He was born June 4, 1869, in Brown County, ill., and moved to Kansas when he was 13. His family came here in a covered wagon and settled in Smith County, where they farmed and lived in sod houses. Dr. Crabb taught country schools and farmed. He served two terms as county clerk in Smith County. He attended the Kansas Medical School three years and the KU School of medicine one year, receiving his M.D. degree at the latter school in 1906. He taught anatomy classes in the medical school. In Topeka, he opened his office above a bank which was located at 8th and Kansas. he later moved to a space above the Orpheum Theater. Dr. Crabb was a trustee of the Central Congregational Church and Washburn College. he was a member of the first board of the Menninger Foundation. Surviving are two sons, Ray Crabb of Independence, Mo., and Herbert Crabb of Menlo Park, Calif.; a daughter, Miss Emma Crabb at home, 2012 Washburn; three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The family requests that any contributions be made to the Central Congregational Church. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until 10 a.m. Monday. Entered Army July 6, 1917. Base Hospital No. 22. Overseas since Aug. 23, 1918. In Argonne Forest Battle. Rank off captain.
