Description	:	Emma Crabb Emma Belle Crabb, 80, 1205 W. 29th, died Tuesday in a Topeka hospital where she was admitted Nov. 4. She suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. Miss Crabb established the first library of the Stormont-Vail Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 and was director of the library until 1961. She was active in maintaining a memorial for the late Dr. Charles M. Sheldon, a prominent Topeka theologian and author of "In His Steps." Read More	Emma Crabb Emma Belle Crabb, 80, 1205 W. 29th, died Tuesday in a Topeka hospital where she was admitted Nov. 4. She suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. Miss Crabb established the first library of the Stormont-Vail Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 and was director of the library until 1961. She was active in maintaining a memorial for the late Dr. Charles M. Sheldon, a prominent Topeka theologian and author of "In His Steps." Miss Crabb was a 1918 graduate of Washburn University and was active in the Wasburn Alumni Association. In 1968, she was presented a Distinguished Service Citation from the university, highest honor the alumni association can bestow. She was a teacher, a librarian and a civic worker, having spent 10 years working with YWCA groups in Oklahoma, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. She formerly was a secretary at the YWCA at Kansas City, Mo. Miss Crabb was born Nov. 18, 1895, in Smith County, the daughter of Dr. John and Cora Crabb, and lived in Topeka 75years. She was graduated from Topeka High School in 1914. She was affiliated with Delta Gamma sorority at Washburn and currently was active in Delta Gamma Alumnae. She taught in high schools at Mayetta and Cottonwood Falls from 1918 to 1922. She completed a course in library science at the University of Denver in 1950 and was employed by the Topeka Public Library before she established the Stormont-Vail School of Nursing Library. She was a life member of Central Congregational Church where she served on the board of deacons. She was a member and past president of Group XI at Central Church. She was a member of the Kansas State Historical Society, the Topeka Audubon Society, and the Association of Artists. She was a member of Topeka, state, and national library organizations. Survivors include a nephew, John A. Crabb II, Kansas City, Mo.; and two nieces, Mrs. Mary Carolyn Cofer, Independence, Mo., and Mrs. Smith A. Botto, Palo Alto, Calif. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Central Congregational Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Miss Crabb will lie in state until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to central Congregational Church, 1248 Buchanan, 66604. Emma's brothers were Ray Jackson Crabb & Fred Herbert Crabb.
