When ten years of age he moved with his parents near Cherokee, Kansas, where he grew to manhood. When ten years of age he moved with his parents near Cherokee, Kansas, where he grew to manhood. After attending the Cherokee schools he graduated from the Kansas City School of Veterinary Surgery and occupied the chair of obstetrics in that college one year, when he entered Government service and was a Government meat inspector at Denver, Colo., for thirty-two years. He also worked for seven years prior to his illness in conjunction with the Mayo clinic in research work for cancer. In 1932 he was married to Miss Ilah Stewart who with one son, Robert Stewart, survive him. Services were conducted on Sunday afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. G.W. Payne, by Rev. Fred Clark. "Abide With Me" and "Nearer and Sweeter" were sung by Mrs. O.H. Curry and Mrs. John Darlington. Mrs. Curry also sang "Face to Face" with Miss Marie Barr, accompanist. Dr. Leeper is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ilah Stewart Leeper; one son, Robert Stewart Leeper; four sisters, Mrs. G.W. Payne of Cherokee, Mrs. Anna M. Murphy and Mrs. Joseph Lambert of Pittsburg, and Mrs. R.C. Strain of Big Springs, Texas; and by numerous relatives and friends. Dr. Leeper was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Leeper and brother, Mr. T.R. Leeper. Those who served as pallbearers were: Messrs. Clyde Loveland, Roy Bertholf, Verne Ester, Dave McClanehan, Hugh Bolick, Robert Brundage, and John Tharp. Burial was made in the Cherokee cemetery.
