Mrs. Murphy apparently suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, according to Coroner Dr. W.G. Rhinehart. There was no previous illness although she had been ailing from old age. Mrs. Murphy was born Dec. 31, 1868, at Batavia, Iowa. When she was ten years old, she came to Odessa, Mo. with her family. She moved with her family southeast of Cherokee when she was twelve. The place is on the county line road where the Alex Niccarato family now lives. They later moved into Cherokee. She has been in the Roeder home for about a year. Membership was held in the Cherokee Presbyterian church. Mrs. Murphy is survived by one sister, Mrs. Laura B. Payne, who is in the Roseber nursing home; seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C.J. Askins at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Cherokee Presbyterian church. Mrs. Virginia Martino was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Helen Imhof. Pallbearers were Hugh Bolick, John Bolick, John Darlington, William McCants, Dave McClenahan and Jack Junkens. Interment was in the Cherokee cemetery, in charge of the Brenner funeral.
