Description	:	Dr. Thomas C. Cochran was born in Tipton county, March 27, 1863, his parents Thomas and Leah (Newkirk) Cochran, locating in Tipton county in 1848. He spent his youth and young manhood on the farm. Thomas Cochran entered land of the government when coming to this county, which he sold in 1895 and moved to Tipton but afterwards returned to the farm, after a short residence here. Cochran was born in Tipton county, March 27, 1863, his parents Thomas and Leah (Newkirk) Cochran, locating in Tipton county in 1848. He spent his youth and young manhood on the farm. Thomas Cochran entered land of the government when coming to this county, which he sold in 1895 and moved to Tipton but afterwards returned to the farm, after a short residence here. Dr. Cochran was educated in the schools of this county and taught several terms, afterwards entering the office of Dr. M.V.B. Newcomer, where he read medicine, prior to attending the Indiana Medical school and the Louisville University of Medicine, being a classmate of the late Dr. R. M. Recobs, at both schools. Following his graduation, he entered the practice, locating at Sharpsville, where he was engaged in the practice with the late Dr. W.C. Furney. He left Sharpsville in 1907 and located in Kokomo, where he was very successful in the practice. On Jan. 1, 1895, Dr. Cochran was united in marriage to Miss Viola Holman, and the widow and two children survive, Buell, who now resides in Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Josephine Small, wife of Samuel Small, of Kokomo, who has been with the mother in California for several months. George C. Cochran and James R. Cochran, of this county; and Mrs. Robert Devault, of Broad Ripple, are brothers and sister of the deceased. William Cochran, killed in an accident on the interurban at a crossing several years ago; John and Edward Cochran and Mrs. Sarah Boyer, the latter's death occurring in Oregon, were brothers and sisters who preceded him to the grave.
