Auchard Lawrence-Dr. Virgil M. Auchard, 95, Lawrence, died Friday, Oct. 12, at a Bucyrus, Ohio, nursing home. Dr. Auchard was a Lawrence physician many years. He served in the Army during World War I in France at the rank of second lieutenant, in the ranks of first lieutenant and captain and entered World War II medical Corps at the rank of major and was discharged at the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was born Aug. 30, 1889, at Wallace, the son of Robert Milliagan and Mary Belle Gilbert Auchard. He was graduated from the University of Kansas here in 1922 and from KU Medical School in 1923. He lived in Bucyrus since March 1983. Dr. auchard was a member of Retired Officers Association, Kansas Medical Society, american Medical Association, american Association of Anesthesiologists, and honorary member of Lawrence Memorial Hospital staff, a 50-year member of Lawrence Lodge No. 6 AF&AM, and Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the american Legion and had received a University of Kansas gold pin. He was married to Mildred L. Coker Oct 5, 1918. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Maurine Jost, Bartlesville, Okla., Mrs. Arlene Anderson, De Sota, Mrs. Rosemary Harris, Cheney, and Mrs. Adrienne York, Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sons, Dr. Virgil Allen Auchard, Bucyrus, Ohio, and Dr. Bruce David Auchard, Mansfield, Ohio.; five sisters, Mrs. Gertrude A. Tuggle, Mrs. Bessie Auchard Macender Garrett, Mrs. Alice Auchard Nyberg, Mrs. Lucille Auchard Hedland and Mrs. Gloria Reed, all of Clay Center; a brother, Dwight Moody Auchard, Los Angeles; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-McEllwain Mortuary here. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lawrence, Mr. Auchard will lie in state from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and Monday at the mortuary where the family will beet with friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in care of the mortuary.
