He was born June 11, 1896, in Wapello County to Lincoln and Mary Robertson Dimmitt. He married Florence German on Feb. 19, 1918, in Wapello County; she died Aug. 4, 1984. He was a retired farmer and was a Wapello County supervisor from 1954 to 1957 and was the Dahlonega Township clerk for 55 years and served as a Dahlonega Township trustee. Read More	Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," February 25, 1991: FAIRFIELD–Earl Dimmitt, 94, of Fairfield, died at 6:36 p.m. February 22, 1991, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield. He was born June 11, 1896, in Wapello County to Lincoln and Mary Robertson Dimmitt. He married Florence German on Feb. 19, 1918, in Wapello County; she died Aug. 4, 1984. He was a retired farmer and was a Wapello County supervisor from 1954 to 1957 and was the Dahlonega Township clerk for 55 years and served as a Dahlonega Township trustee. He was the first president of the Wapello County Rural Fire Department and was a field representative for Production Credit Company for 18 years. He was a member of Soil Conservation Board and was a member of National Farmers Union. He was a member of Agency Olive Masonic Lodge 21 for 71 years, Clinton Chapter 9 and Ottumwa Council 31. He is survived by a son, Gordon Dimmitt, of Bella Vista, Ark.; a daughter Edith Kitchell of Des Moines; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Noble, Olen and Lee Dimmitt and two sisters, Lena and Carrie Dimmitt. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. Richard Speight of the First United Methodist Church in Ottumwa officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery. Masonic services will be 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
