Description	:	14 August 1952 - The Tipton Advertiser Funeral services were held for Mrs. Nellie Crees at the Snider funeral home in West Liberty at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, Aug. 4, by Rev. Richard Walters. Harry Lewis sang two solos, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "In The Garden". The bearers were Harvey Thomson, Ralph Pelzer, Ray Isabel, Chester Dickey, Louis Kofron and Ryle Simpson. Interment was in Oakridge cemetery, West Liberty. Crees and Charlotte, Norway, Ia., Mr. J. D. Wright, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hudgens, Mrs. Wm. Rebal, Iowa City, Mrs. Gertrude Vogel, Miss Mary Hart, Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Steffens, Wilton. Two grandchildren, Carol Dotson and Edith Gullett, were unable to attend. Nellie Crees, daughter of Joseph Fletcher and Sarah Poland, was born December 13, 1872, in Henry county, Ill., and passed away Aug. 1, 1952, at the age of 79 years, __ months and 18 days. The family came to Muscatine county, Iowa, in 1873, moving to Cedar county in 1879, where she has since resided. In 1894 she was married to John Crees and to them were born three children, Laurence, who preceded his mother in death Jan. 20, 1952, Ethel Dotson of Atalissa, with whom she has made her home the last four years, and Edith Ridenour of Phoenix, Ariz. Mr. Crees died July 20, 1943. Other survivors are six grandchildren, Glenn and Duane Dotson, Atalissa, Carl Dotson, Cactus, Tex., Norma Thumma, Edith Gullet and Glenda Ridenour of Phoenix. And three great-grandchildren with whom she spent many happy hours, Katha, Shari and Diane Dotson. She is also survived by one brother, John Poland Munseen, Alberta, Canada, and one sister Mrs. J. D. Wright of Iowa City, Iowa. Four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. As failing health brought an end to many of her activities, she lived quietly with her family, getting much happiness in the reading of her Bible, her radio, her flowers and the companionship of her grandchildren and her many friends.
