Pilcher (Shamburg) 77, a loving wife, mother, and sister. Edy was born December 20, 1932, on the Shamburg homestead at Randall, Kansas. Passed away July 26, 2010, in Tucson, Arizona. Preceded in death by her parents, and youngest brother, Ronald Shamburg of Tucson, Arizona. Survived by her beloved husband, Lewis Pilcher of 59 years; children, Rhonda (Philip) Davis, Roxie Simmons, Tucson, Arizona and Robert (Cherie) Pilcher of Latham, Kansas; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She spent 21 years following her husband around the world while he served in the USAF; from Texas to Japan, to the Carolina's, to Hawaii and even California, before they retired to Augusta, Kansas in 1972; moving to Tucson in 1998. She was a homemaker, a school secretary and always at her husband's side in all that they did. She enjoyed playing games and cards with her family and friends, traveling, flowers and books. U of A basketball was also one of her passions, as well as collecting elephant figurines. She will be missed by many friends and family. And so, in her dear husband's words from Lewy to Edy, "This I will remember, when the rest of life is through: the finest thing I've ever done is simply loving you." A Memorial in celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Tucson Mountain Baptist Church, 5757 W. Ajo Way, Tucson, AZ 85735 with a reception to follow. Edy was born Dec. 20, 1932, on the Shamburg homestead in Randall, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents; and youngest brother, Ronald, of Tucson. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Lewis "Lewy" Pilcher; four brothers, Duane, Dan, Les and Lenus; five sisters, Roberta, Lila, Neva, Telva and Linda; children, Rhonda Davis (Philip) and Roxie Simmons, all of Tucson, and Robert Pilcher (Cherie), of Latham, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She spent 21 years following her husband around the world while he served in the U.S. Air Force from Texas to Japan to the Carolinas to Hawaii and California, before retiring to Augusta in 1972. In 1998, they moved to Tucson. She was a homemaker, school secretary and always at her husband's side in all that they did. She enjoyed playing games and cards with her family and friends, traveling, flowers, plants and was an avid reader of all kinds of books. A memorial celebration of her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Christian Church, Glasco, Kan. Graveside services will follow the service at Glasco Cemetery. After the services, there will be a gathering of friends at the Senior Center in Glasco. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Odyssey Hospice Care, 750 E. Foothills Dr., Tucson 85718.
