Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul with Ellen Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Ms. Nelsen was born Aug. 11, 1897 to Thorwald J. and Birgitte Kjeldsen Nelsen in Boelus. She grew up in St. Paul, where she attended school and graduated from St. Paul High School. She then attended Kearney State Normal College, the University of Minnesota and the University of Colorado. She taught at a rural Howard County school for two years and then taught for 25 years in the St. Paul Elementary school system. Later, she worked at Anderson's Locker Plant in St. Paul. She continued to live in St. Paul after she retired. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of St. Paul where she served as a deacon, financial secretary and choir member. During World War II she was a Red Cross volunteer, knitting and stitching helmets and sweaters. She was a 73-year member of Chapter AP P.E.O. of St. Paul, and a 50-year member of Eastern Star. Survivors include two sisters, Lillian Anderson and Alyce Paul, both of St. Paul. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Arnold and Helen Nelsen and two brothers, Howard E. and Donald E.
