Description	:	Edna McIntosh was the daughter of Auris Harvey and Mary Gertrude McIntosh. Edna was raised in Harrison County, Missouri with 8 other siblings. She graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1928 and began training for a teaching career at Central Missouri State Teachers College and Northwest Missouri State Teacher's College. She taught for 7 years at Pleasant Hill School and Lone Rock School in Harrison County. She also taught in Nodaway County for 2 years at Butler School before she married my Dad, Floid Hall, in 1938. Edna was raised in Harrison County, Missouri with 8 other siblings. She graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1928 and began training for a teaching career at Central Missouri State Teachers College and Northwest Missouri State Teacher's College. She taught for 7 years at Pleasant Hill School and Lone Rock School in Harrison County. She also taught in Nodaway County for 2 years at Butler School before she married my Dad, Floid Hall, in 1938. Back then you couldn't teach once you married. The following two years brought about the loss of two sons at birth. The years that followed procured the birth of two more babies who survived and were healthy...my brother and I. Mom devoted her life to raising us and being a housewife while Dad brought home the paycheck. We were given many opportunities to succeed in life and were a close-knit family. Mom and Dad were quite the gardeners, raised chickens and guineafowl. Mom also loved flowers and was proud of her ability to raise African violets and gladiolus. She loved to put up produce for the winter, sew, and was the best cook ever! Mom had a great love for music, but absolutely no talent. Dad had the talent in that area playing the guitar, violin, piano, and harmonica. We attended many outdoor concerts and the Starlight Theater, took music lessons, played in the orchestra. My brother was a child prodigy when it came to music and I didn't get that gene. It was so much fun enjoying his amazing talent though! He kept us entertained. My Mother was very involved all her life in church activities, learning new artistic skills, collecting and showing rocks, dollhouse miniatures, entering things at fairs, going to auctions, collecting antiques, canning fruits and vegetables, bird watching, caning chairs, genealogy, traveling, quilting, spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and telling her stories over and over again. I miss those times we had together and have found nothing that is quite its equal. There is just something so special about Mom's and Dad's, and no matter how old we get we never stop missing them. A candle still burns in my heart for you, Mom. I shall always miss you and all the wonderful memories we shared. You would have been 98 on the 19th of this month. Even at 94 you lived a long and prosperous life...setting a wonderful example for all of us to live by. Wish you were still here, radiating that marvelous smile, sharing your infinite wisdom, and encouraging us all to live that pioneer spirit which saw you through some bleak moments. You never gave up, and always looked forward to tomorrow. I hope I can be that strong too. While life may end, love is endless. Read less

Tonight, I am writing to two wonderful Mothers...my own and a beloved dear friends. Mothers are one of the most special gifts God has given us, and no matter how long they live, their stay is never long enough. I miss you, Mom, and perhaps more so at this time of the year. The holidays are a sad time for me without your presence. You and Dad made so many wonderful memories for us. Just the sight of snow dusting the fields was enough to make me cry as it reminded me of the many trips to see you during this time of the year. You have blessed my life in ways you'll never know, and now my heart is lonely. Life just isn't the same without you. How I long for just one more day with you. I love you so much! Spring is just around the corner, and I know how much you loved your flowers and the birds. It's a time of renewal. Where do the years go, Mom? How wonderful it would be to sit down and talk to you again, or just hear your voice. So much has happened since you passed. The loneliness never goes away, but I will be with you soon. Love you so much!

Where do the years go, Mom? Christmas has never been the same without you and Dad or my Paul. I have so much trouble getting through the holiday season each and every year. Wishing you a blessed Christmas Day wherever you are.
