Description	:	Edna Wilkes Bry, 86, Berthold, died Tuesday, March 27, 1990, of natural causes at the home of a son in Minot, Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, in Berthold's Baptist Church. Burial was in the Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold. The former Edna Benedict was born on July 29, 1903, in Martinsburg, NE, a daughter of Edward and Mary Benedict. Read More	Edna Wilkes Bry, 86, Berthold, died Tuesday, March 27, 1990, of natural causes at the home of a son in Minot, Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, in Berthold's Baptist Church. Burial was in the Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold. The former Edna Benedict was born on July 29, 1903, in Martinsburg, NE, a daughter of Edward and Mary Benedict. She moved with her family to the Berthold-Lonetree area of Ward County in 1906, and was reared there and graduated from Lonetree High School. Following graduation she attended Minot State University in Minot where she received her teaching certificate. She married Glenn Wilkes in 1929, and they lived in the Berthold-Lonetree area, and she taught school in the Lonetree area for many years, retiring in the early 1940s, He preceded her in death. She continued to live in the Lonetree area until 1952 when she moved into Berthold. In January of 1974, she married Lawrence Bry, and they continued to live in Berthold. He died in 1979, and she remained in Berthold until her death. A former member of the Lonetree Baptist Church, she later became a member of the Berthold Baptist Church, and belonged to the Women's Missionary Society of that church and also taught Sunday school there. For a number of years she was a member of the Lonetree and Berthold School Boards, and also belonged to the Lonetree Homemakers. She also had been active in 4-H club work as a group leader in the Lonetree and Berthold areas. Survivors include her four Sons, Don Wilkes and his wife, Darlene of Springfield, VA, Ervin Wilkes of White Bear Lake, MN, Bryce Wilkes of Rapid City, SD, and Larry Wilkes and his wife, Sharon of Minot; one daughter Janice Haugen of Colorado Springs, CO; three sisters, Edith Strait and Lucille Burkhart and her husband Loren, all of Berthold, and Sara Flohr and her husband Hank of Bismarck; 17 grandchildren, Diane Lanphere, Julie Radke, Joni Haugen, Pam Cook, Brenda Brekke, Kimberly Maragos, Susie Anderson, Barbie Wilkes, Marissa Wilkes and Nicole Wilkes and Kevin, Mark, Nathan, Brad, Brian, and Brent Wilkes, and Jerry Haugen; and 10 great-grandchildren, Mandy and Jennifer Radke, Joshua and Jennifer and Meredith Wilkes, and Alexa Maragos and Travis Brekke, and Danielle Cook, and Matthew and Jennifer Wilkes and a number of nieces and nephews.. Also surviving are two stepsons, Larry and Morris Bry, and stepdaughters, JoAnne and Deanne, all of who reside on the west coast. Her parents, stepfather and brother, Bud Benedict, preceded her in death. Thompson-Larson Funeral Home of Minot handled the service. From the Kenmare News.
