Description	:	Edward and Sarah were married Feb 15, 1899. In 1909 they emigrated to Canada from Iowa, with their daughter Bertha. For several years Edward farmed in the Clive and Lakeside Districts of Alberta, later working in the lumber yard business in Lacombe. In 1915, their son Arthur was born, and in 1919 the family returned to farming, purchasing land in the Mountain Grove district, south of Lacombe. Edward Kriese was a dedicated community worker, always willing to do more than his share. See the Kriese family story in Wagon Trails to Hard Top. ------------------------- Sigourney News Review, 10 April 1949 Mrs. Elizabeth Jones received word Saturday morning of the death of her brother, Ed Kriese, who died suddenly at his home in Lacombe, Alberta, Canada. Mr. Kriese was born July 11, 1875 on a farm near Delta, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Kriese. He was married to Vina Hayes of Martinsburg, and they made their home on a farm in Steady Run Township. Thirty three years ago they left Martinsburg and moved to a farm near Lacombe. He and his wife returned to Keokuk County in October 1948 for a visit with his sisters and brothers. On February 14, 1949, the couple observed their golden wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Bertha, and a son Arthur, both of Lacombe; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones, Ethel and Louise Kriese of Sigourney; Mrs. Marion Craft of Hedrick; three brothers, George of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Virdon of Delta, and Phillip of Sigourney. Burial was in Canada.
