Description	:	There has been a lot of confusion regarding this child--his name, his date of birth, and his date of death. Part of the problem is that his given name was Wilhelm Frederick, but early on his name was anglicized to William. Additionally, people regularly called him by his middle name, and one record has mistakenly recorded his middle name as Diedrich instead of Frederick. Part of the problem is that his given name was Wilhelm Frederick, but early on his name was anglicized to William. Additionally, people regularly called him by his middle name, and one record has mistakenly recorded his middle name as Diedrich instead of Frederick. According to family and official records, William Frederick, or Frederick William, was born on 12 January 1878 to John Louis and Adeline Polke Kriese. Unfortunately, Adeline died in September of 1878. Despite his mother's death, young William was christened on 24 November of that year. William's father remarried within six months of losing William's mother. Young William lived with his father and stepmother, but he also spent time with Adeline's parents. On February 16, 1881, William died. It is unclear if his tombstone was ordered immediately, but when it was placed, it contained much inaccurate information. William's date of death is incorrect, which has led many people to believe he was another child. Unfortunately, whoever gave the misinformation for William's tombstone also mistakenly had John Louis's tombstone inscribed with the wrong year of death, so errors abound. Because it would likely cause confusion to have the memorial list information that contradicts the tombstone, we have left things as they are. However, the accurate information is as stated above.
