Soloists were Mrs. Semalina Stevenson of Ames, who sang "In the Garden" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and Mrs. Evelyn Kirshbaum of Washington, D.C., who played a violin solo, "Traumeric" by Schumann. Mrs. Crystelle Bergquist and Mrs. Frye sang two duets. Accompaniments were played by Miss Elsie Swedlund. Eddie August Bjorklund, son of Hans and Anna Bjorklund, was born May 8, 1888, on a farm south of Stanhope. He had spent his entire life on the home farm. He was united with the South Marion Methodist church in October 1916. A lifetime resident of the Stanhope community, he died in Boone, Tuesday, Sept. 11, 1951. His sudden death due to a heart attack, came as a shock to all. He is survived by three sisters: Ethel Bjorklund at home, Mrs. Lorina Thomas of Boone, Mrs. Ruth Anderson of Webster City, five nieces and nephews, many other relatives in this country and Sweden, and a host of friends. His father and mother preceded him in death. Out-of-state relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. Anna Jennings of Chicago and Mrs. Evelyn Kirshbaum of Washington, D.C. Besides farming Mr. Bjorklund's chief interests were music and world affairs. His philosophy: "To give and share, not take" and "Only as we follow the Prince of Peace can we find Peace." We have the assurance that he has found perfect love and peace.
