Goslar (1893 - 1988) Edward Dietrick Goslar, the son of William and Wilhelminia Meyer Goslar, was born on August 30, 1893 near Berne, Iowa, and died, following a brief illness, on December 16, 1988 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 95 years. Goslar (1893 - 1988) Edward Dietrick Goslar, the son of William and Wilhelminia Meyer Goslar, was born on August 30, 1893 near Berne, Iowa, and died, following a brief illness, on December 16, 1988 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 95 years. Edward grew up in the Berne area and attended a rural school before attending the St. John's Lutheran School in Charter Oak, Iowa. He helped on the family farm and on December 12, 1917, he and Lena Rosburg were united in marriage at the St. John's Lutheran Parsonage in Charter Oak. This union was blessed with 9 children. Edward and Lena lived in the Berne and Ute area all their married life. They retired from farming in 1955 but continued to live on the family farm. He was a director of the Berne Coop and also a country school director for a number of years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and was loved and treasured by many. At an earlier age he enjoyed participating in sports and later ,watching them. Edward was Baptized on October 1, 1893 by Pastor Runge and later Confirmed on April 16, 1908 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at the time of his death. Preceding Edward in death were: his parents; four brothers Fred, William, Henry, and Herman; two sisters; Freda in infancy and Bertha Eck; one daughter, Audrey Klockgether; one granddaughter, one great granddaughter, one great grandson and one son in law, Alfred Sievers. Survivors include his wife Lena; children: Lola Mae and her husband Herbert Sievers of Ute, Wilma Sievers of Kiron, Phillip Goslar and his wife Leona of Ute, Irma and her husband LaVern Wessel of Ricketts, Lois Jean Goslar of Ute, Edward E. Goslar and his wife Lois of Ute, Shirley and her husband Norman Gosch of Ute and Ronald Goslar and his wife Lou Anna of Ute. Also surviving are a son in law, Henry Klockgether of Charter Oak; 26 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and one brother Otto Goslar of Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 19, 1988 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. Pastor L. C. Gebhardt officiated at the services with interment in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery at Charter Oak. Transcribed by: Bob Kuehl
