Description	:	Edward Hatch, was the only child of Edward G. and Marian A.(Whittier)Hatch. Up until the early mid-1920s Edward and his parents lived in Amesbury on High Street, where several other of his father's relatives lived. When Edward's maternal great grandmother became ill the family moved to her house in Newton to care for her. It was in Newton that Edward would live for the remainder of his life. When Edward's maternal great grandmother became ill the family moved to her house in Newton to care for her. It was in Newton that Edward would live for the remainder of his life. By all all accounts he had a good childhood. Edward was a member of Amesbury High School Class of 1930. He was married to Ruth E. Brewer on April 9,1934 in Danville, New Hampshire by a clergyman in a simple ceremony. It was during the depression and there was no money for a wedding with family,friends and a reception. At the time of the wedding Edward was a mechanic at Regan Ford on Water Street in Haverhill, Mass. Ruth and Edward bought a house that was built in 1892 on Heath Street in Newton,New Hampshire. He lived there up until his passing. Edward and Ruth had one child,Edward E. in 1939. He had four grandchildren. David E.,Paul W. and Peter J. Chris was born two years after Edward died. My brother David called him "Bangy'. Fifty-one years after his death my family still refers to him as "Bangy". Edward worked as a machinist for several years at The Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard,New Hampshire. Because he worked for the federal government he was exempt from registering for the mandatory World War II draft registration. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Edward was an excellent carpenter. On a cold December night when my grandmother got home from work it had already gotten dark out. My grandfather had been home from work for a few hours. Ruth had an uneasy feeling about going into the house. She sensed something "wasn't right". Ruth drove two towns over to Kensington and got her brother Carl,who returned with my my grandmother to the house. Carl went into the house and found my grandfather had died on the couch in the den. His cause of death was a massive coronary. Edward had no known history of heart disease.
