Jones Newspaper Obituary-- Edward Griffith Jones, 940 Arundel St., a retired farmer who was a lifetime resident of Lyon County, died this morning at Newman Memorial County Hospital. After moving to Emporia in 1948 from his farm in the Elco District southwest of Emporia, Mr. Jones continued working at the farm each day until he was 90 years old. He retired in 1973. After moving to Emporia in 1948 from his farm in the Elco District southwest of Emporia, Mr. Jones continued working at the farm each day until he was 90 years old. He retired in 1973. Jones of the First United Methodist Church will be in charge of services. Edward Griffith Jones was born April 20, 1882, in Emporia at 627 Rural St., the son of Griffith Prichard and Abigail C. Allen Jones. In 1910, Mr. Jones purchased the farm southwest of Emporia from his father who had owned the farm since 1872. In 1911, he built a home at the farm for him and his wife, the former Edith Pollock, whom he married Nov. 1, 1911, in Lawrence. Mrs. Jones died Aug. 24, 1976. Mr. Jones is survived by two sons, Ralph E. Jones and Darrell D. Jones, Olpe; two daughters, Evelyn Murphy 946 Arundel St., and Allene Lane, Clay Center; one sister, Lucina Jones, 1102 West Fifteenth Ave; and 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. One son, Carroll Robert Jones, died in 1919, and he also was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter A. Jones and Arthur Jones. Mr. Jones was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
