The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, September 14, 1978; pg. 5 ---------------------------- Edward Herman Henry Mueller, one of seven children of William B. and Mary Louise (Grummert) Mueller, was born on a farm south west of Nelson, Nebraska, December 1, 1910, and passed away September 9, 1978, at his home in Nelson, Nebraska, at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 8 days. As an infant, he was received by holy baptism on December 25, 1910. On October 14, 1923, he made confession of his faith and was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior, Nebraska. He received his education at Independence Rural School, southwest of Nelson, Nebraska. May 19, 1936, he was united in marriage to Naomi G. Rathburn at the Lutheran Parsonage. To this union one child was born. Following marriage, he moved to the home farm southwest of Nelson where they lived for 28 years. Fourteen years ago he moved to Nelson, where he made his home until he was called home. Ed was a faithful member of Salem Lutheran all his life. He was on the board of deacons of the church. He served as president of the men of the church. For many years he sang in the choir, taught the adult Sunday School class and was an active and faithful member of the church. Ed also served his community on the school board, on the elevator and oil station board, A.A.A. committeeman and S.C.S. He helped organize the Blue Valley Nursing Home, Hebron, Nebraska. Also he helped to secure a nursing home in Nelson. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, and a sister. He leaves to mourn his parents; his widow, Naomi of Nelson; a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Lois) Watts of Camarillo, California; one grandson, Johnny Watts; and one granddaughter, Juli Watts of Camarillo, California; a son-in-law, A.J. Watts of Camarillo, California; a brother, Carl Mueller of Nelson; one sister, Mrs. Lydia Kottmeyer of Guide Rock and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held Wednesday, September 13, 1978, 11:00 a.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior, Nebraska. The Rev. Ray Ensign officiated. Pallbearers were Gerald Mueller, Glen Mueller, Dale Mueller, Marvin Mueller, Bill Kottmeyer and Tom Rathbun. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Superior, Nebraska.
