He was 50. Mr. Chavey was born Dec. 2, 1915, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Chavey and had lived his life in the St. Joseph and Ames communities. He was a veteran of World War II, having served overseas. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church at St. Joseph, Kan. and of the American Legion Post at Clyde. He was married to Elaine Bushell on Jan. 27, 1945 at St. Joseph. They were living on a farm where his parents had lived, two and a half miles west of St. Joseph. Mr. Chavey is survived by his wife; five children: Thomas, of Ames; Irene, now Mrs. Raymond Tremblay of Clyde; Jean, Maribeth and Mark of the home; his mother, Mrs. Diana Chavey of St. Joseph; two brothers: Fred Chavey of Concordia and Bernard Chavey of Clyde; six sisters: Mrs. Albert Adam, of Concordia; Mrs. William Racette, of Oakley; Miss Natalie Chavey, of St. Joseph; Sister Mary Dorothea, of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Sabetha; Mrs. Alphonse Marcotte, Salina; Mrs. Marvin O'Neill, Salina. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock in the Catholic Church at St. Joseph, Kan. Burial will be in the St. Joseph cemetery with military committal. Rosary services for Edward L. Chavey, this evening at Chaput's Mortuary at Clyde, 8 o'clock. June 14, 1966 Edward L. Chavey was born Dec. 2, 1915 at St. Joseph, Kan., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Chavey, and died June 4, 1966 at the age of 50 years, six months and two days. He had lived his entire life in the St. Joseph and Ames communities. He was a veteran of World War II, having served overseas. "Ed" as he was called by all his friends, was a member of the Roman Catholic Church at St. Joseph and the American Legion Post at Clyde. He was married to Elaine Bushell on Jan. 27, 1945 at St. Joseph. They were living on the farm where his parents had lived two and a half miles west of St. Joseph. Mr. Chavey cared little for the worldly riches but wanted only to be a friend to all. He contributed much to his community and always lent a helping hand to all who needed aid. His friendly smile and cheerful wave of his hand will be sadly missed by all his family and friends but his generous Christian disposition was and will always be an inspiration to everyone. He is survived by his wife, five children, Thomas of Ames; Irene, now Mrs. Raymond Tremblay of Clyde; Jean, Maribeth and Mark of the home; his mother, Mrs. Diana Chavey of St. Joseph; two brothers: Fred Chavey, of Concordia and Bernard Chavey of Clyde; six sisters: Mrs. Albert Adam, Concordia; Mrs. William Racette, Oakley; Miss Natalie Chavey, St. Joseph; Sister Mary Dorothea, Sabetha; Mrs. Alphonse Marcotte, Salina; Mrs. Marvin O'Neill, Salina. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, June 7, at the Roman Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Pallbearers were Gerald Chavey, Louis Chavey, Donald Chavey, Don Cyr, Ivan Hamel and Maurice Landry.
