Description	:	Edward Norris Holst, son of Henry and Erna Holst, was born December 13, 1911, on a farm south of Sedan. He departed this life on Monday, February 19, 1990, at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 6 days. Edward, known to family and friends as Jack, grew up on the family farm near Sedan, attended rural country schools there and continued the family heritage by remaining on the farm, working the soil until his retirement last year. Jack was united in marriage to Mildred Kotas on November 1, 1951. ... Read More	Edward Norris Holst, son of Henry and Erna Holst, was born December 13, 1911, on a farm south of Sedan. He departed this life on Monday, February 19, 1990, at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 6 days. Edward, known to family and friends as Jack, grew up on the family farm near Sedan, attended rural country schools there and continued the family heritage by remaining on the farm, working the soil until his retirement last year. Jack was united in marriage to Mildred Kotas on November 1, 1951. Jack and Mildred moved into Davenport in September of just last year. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and three sisters. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 38 years, Mildred Holst of Davenport; sister-in-law, Marie Holst Scalf and brother-in-law Eldon Scalf Bother of Hastings; nieces, nephews, other relatives and his many, many friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 22, 1990, 10:30 a.m. at the Urbauer-Williams Funeral Home in Edgar. The Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiated. Serving as casketbearers were Jack Jensen, Darrell Jensen, Delbert Kotas, Robert Holst, Dale Holst and Bill Holst. Music was provided by soloist Rev. Donald Hunzeker, who sang "How Great Thou Art," accompanied by Mrs. Doris Keim. Interment was held in the Edgar Cemetery. Urbauer-Williams Funeral Home of Edgar was in charge of the arrangements.
