Description	:	Mildred I. Holst, daughter of Fred and Anna (Bedlan) Kotas, was born on a farm near Oak, Nebraska, on April 20, 1914. She shared her birth date with her sister, Lillian. Mildred passed away at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler, Neb. on Tuesday, October 16, 2001, at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 26 days. Mildred passed away at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler, Neb. on Tuesday, October 16, 2001, at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 26 days. Mildred attended country school near Oak and graduated from Nelson High School in 1931. November 3, 1951, she married Edward "Jack" Holst. They had no children but their nieces and nephews became their children. Mildred was a hard worker and expected little in return. They lived on a farm west of Davenport. In 1991 they moved into Davenport. Mildred carried irrigation pipe in the summer on the 100 degree days until she was 66 years old. She always told it like it was and would do what she could for people. She loved animals and kids. The Senior Center and all of the people gave Mildred something to look forward to in her daily routine. She enjoyed quilting, reading and growing flowers. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Jack; one brother, Fred Kotas,Jr.; and three sisters, Mamie Jensen, Lillian Jensen and Viola Johnston. She is survived by one brother, Joe Kotas of Nelson, who is 100 years old. She will be missed very much and will be remembered as "Aunt Mil". Funeral services were held on Friday, October 19,2001 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Davenport, Nebraska, with Rev. Lila Bottolfsen officiating. Vocalists, Tom Jensen and Terry Jensen, sang, "How Great Thou Art" and "It Was You". The congregation sang "The Old Rugged Cross". Holly Scheming was organist. Pallbearers were Bob Kotas, Loren Jensen, Darrell Jensen, Delbert Kotas, Roger Williams, and David Miller. Urbauer-Price Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
