Ahrens. ======================= The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE), Friday, January 8, 1937; pg. 1 Ernst Holst Ernst Henry Holst, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Holst of Edgar, was born on a farm southeast of Edgar, Nuckolls county (sic), August 14 (sic), 1896, and departed this life January 1, 1937 at the age of 40 years, 4 months and 7 days. On February 18, 1925, he was united in marriage with Marie Ahrens, To this marriage five children were born, Robert Ernst, Russell Lee, Dale Edgar, Roma Jean and Billy Ray. Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his untimely death, his father and mother, three brothers, Otto of New York City, Marvin and Edward of Edgar, and one sister, Helen of Edgar. One sister, Marie, preceded him in death. Mr. Holst was baptized August 24, 1896, and confirmed April 5, 1914, in Christ's Evangelical Lutheran church (sic) at Davenport and was a member in good standing until his death. He was a devoted husband and father in the home n a kind an friendly neighbor to all. "To our loved one whose cross grew so heavy, Came the summons of blessed release. And he passed through life's mythical portal To a world of infinite peace. And Jesus in tender compassion Through the ministering comfort of friends, Has shown us His love in unfailing To strengthen, to guide and defend." A brief service was held at the home Sunday followed by a service in Christ's Lutheran church (sic) in Davenport, Nebraska, with Rev J. C. Hershey in charge.
