July 18, 1932 - Carroll Daily Herald - Funeral rites for Edward Rogers of Omaha, were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methoist church of Carroll, conducted by the Rev. Henry C. Schneider pastor of the First Presbyterian church, in the absence of the Methodist ministry, the Rev. W.M. Brooks. Burial was in the city cemetery. The pallbearers were J. Thomas Rogers of Coon Rapids, E.J. Rogers, Will and Ed Osborne, Arthur Pascoe and William Pierce. A short funeral service was conducted by the Rev. William Albright at the home in Omaha at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Edward Rogers was born in Braeg's parish, County of Cornwall, England, Aug. 9, 1840. He came to the United States at the age of four and lived near Hazel Green, Wis., where he grew to manhood. On becoming of age, he cast his first ballot for Abraham Lincoln, who was running for his second term. He was married to Caroline Osborne, June 24, 1865, and to them four children were born, one dying in infancy. He moved from Wisconsin to Carroll county in 1870, where he purchased the farm, which he still owned at the time of his death. Mrs. Rogers died in August, 1874. On June 28, 1877, he married Agnes Mitchell and they had six children. He moved to Omaha in 1909 where he remained at the family residence, 2124 Emmet street, until the time of his death. Mr. Rogers is survived by two brothers, James, of Cuba City, Wis., and Fred of Omaha; seven children, Mrs. T.J. Sterner, Mrs. H.E. Freed and Mrs. A.G. Coe of Omaha; Mrs. W.W. Hanby of Spirit Lake, E. Walter and Everett M. Rogers of Carroll, Dr. F.H. Rogers of Cumberland, IA. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. J.O. Sterner, died in 1920. Mr. Rogers died last Friday at his home in Omaha at the age of 91 and the body arrived in Carroll this morning.
