Survivors are; daughter, Mrs. Darla Knight of Red Oak; five sons Boyd of Colorado Springs, Colo., James of Oakland, Martin of Hastings, E.M. and Ivan of Emerson, 20 grandchildren and 1 great; one brother, Henry Straight of Omaha, NE. Burial will be in Henderson Cemetery, with Commer Funeral Home in charge NOTE: Henderson is in Mills County. Published in the Malvern Leader on Sept. 11, 1952 in Malvern, Mills, Iowa. Edwin Straight Rites Held Tues. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church here Tuesday for Ed Straight with Rev. J. T. Parker in charge. Pall bearers were Alma Skank and Clarence Frink o fHenderson, James Holt, Raymond Morse, Ed Farris and Ivan Shook. Ed Farris was soloist and Mrs. H.K. Greenwood, pianist. Edward Greenwood and Ralph Good served as ushers. Mrs. Rogene Holt of Henderson and Mrs. Freda Honeywell cared for the floral offerings. Burial was in Farm Creek Cemetery at Henderson with the Comer Funeral Home in charge. The following life sketch was read; Edwin B. Straight, son of Uriah (sic) and Diana Straight was born in Harrison Co., Mo. on Dec. 3, 1859 and passed away quietly last Saturday at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, after attaining the age of 92y, 9m, 3da. He was one of a family of 11 children, one brother, Henry of Glendale, surviving him. The greater portion of his life he engaged in farming. Farming near Climax vicinity several years, then moving to western Kansas, where he homesteaded 4 yrs. spending a short time on western Nebraska and then returning to Iowa. March 24, 1895, Edwin and Mattie Brown were united in marraige at Wales, Iowa. She preceded him in death. To this union eight children were born, of whom Orville and Edwin preceded him in death. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. darla Knight of Red Oak; five sons, Boyd of Colorado Springs, Colo., James of Oakland, Martin of Hastings; Emmett and Ivan of Emerson; 20 grandchildren and 1 great. Among those from a distance who attended the Straight funeral were Mrs. Mabel Campbell of Des Moines; M&M Tully Straight and M&M (names unreadable) of Wayne NE., and Mrs Hazel Manning of Kansas.
