Schardt officiating. The bridal party entered to the strains of the Lohrengrin (sic)wedding march, which was played by Mrs. Fred Mohrman after the nuptial vows were taken. The beautiful song "Jesus Still Lead On," was sung by Mrs. Walter Grueber and the Misses Martha Mohrman and Ernestine Grueber. Entering first were their only attendants Miss Elsie Mohrman (sic), sister of the bride, and Mr. Otto Dittmer, brother of the groom, bridesmaid and best man. Miss Mohrman (sic) worn a dress of Sinbad orange crepe. Her accessories ware in white. The bride wore a floor-length gown of white satin with a slight train. She wore a cap shaped finger tip veil, which was of silk tulle. She carried a bouquet of carnations, lilies and fernery and the bouquet was tied with a white satin ribbon. The groom wore a suit of Oxford grey. After the ceremony a wedding dinner was served to about 38 guests. The decorations were in pink and white. The bride and groom received many beautiful gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Dittmer will be at home on a farm north of Byron. Mirtz performing the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Peters were attendants. ========================== Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, January 9, 1997; pg. 11 Edwin Frederick Dittmer, son of John and Sophia Kniep Dittmer, was born December 14, 1908 on a farm southwest of Byron in Republic County, Kansas, and died December 26, 1996, at the Republic County Hospital Long Term Care in Belleville, Kansas, at the age of 88 years. He received his education in a one room school. After the eighth grade, he stayed home to help work full-time on the family farm. He farmed west of Byron for approximately 10 years after he was first married. then he moved to a farm in Kansas 1 1/2 miles south of Byron, where he lived for over 50 years. He farmed actively for over 60 years until he was 81. He was united in marriage to Louise Mohrmann on February 23, 1936, at Byron, Nebraska, and to this union two children were born. Louise died in 1969. He was united in marriage to Lydia Marquart on December 7, 1970. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 1995. He was active in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Byron since becoming a member in 1928. He served on the church council. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Louise, and a sister, Emma. He is survived by his wife, Lydia, a daughter, Edna Gray of Littleton, Colorado; a son, Harold of San Francisco, California; a brother, Otto of Byron, Nebraska; and Johanna Schmidt of Deshler, Nebraska; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday, January 6, 1997, at 3 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Byron Nebraska, with Rev. Howard Schroeder officiating. Burial was made in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
