EDWIN GEORGE JONES Edwin George Hones, son of William B. and Abbie J. Hones, was born in Pawnee County, Nebraska, Feb. 9, 1896, and passed away at the Pawnee Manor Nursing Home, Pawnee City, Nebr., October 12, 1967. following a long illness. On Dec. 31, 1924 he was united in marriage to Fannie Edith Hornby of Lincoln. This union was blessed with three children, two boys and one girl. The early life of Mr. Jones was spent on the home farm located south of Pawnee City until he went to his father's ranch in Holt county and spent several years. He left Holt county to serve his country in World War I. Upon his return from the Army he spent some time on the ranch. Later he returned to Pawnee county, was married and settled on his father's farm, south-west of Pawnee City in 1925. He farmed, raising and feeding cattle and horses until his health would not permit him to carry on, and he moved to Pawnee City, September 1960, and was in failing health from that time. He is preceded in death by one son and one daughter, Roy Wallace Jones and Irene Evangeline Jones, his parents, three brothers, and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Edith, one son, George, Aurora, Ill., five grandchildren, one brother, Frank, three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Ann Chase, Mrs. Mamie Geisman, and Mrs. Eva Kenney all of Pawnee City, and a host of relatives and friends. Mr. Jones was a member of the Thomas Little Post 168 of the American Legion. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, 15 Wherry Brother's Mortuary with the rev. R. H. Lingard officiating. Mrs. Byford Metzger and Mrs. Laura Turnbull, accompanied by Mrs. Ross Thiemann sang: "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset." Interment was in the Pawnee City cemetery.
