Description	:	Funeral services were held Friday for Mrs. Effie Taylor of the Wood vicinity. Final rites were held at the Baptist Church in Winner with Rev. Curtis Gatson of Witten officiating. Burial was in Winner cemetery beside her husband. Mason funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Taylor died last Tuesday while she was being brought to a doctor's office in Winner. She had been in failing health for the past two years but had remained active in her home and very seldom missed attendance at Rosebud Valley Baptist church. Survivors include five sons, Floyd of Wood, Frank of Winner, James of Chadron, Nebr., Byron of Presho and Joy of Howick, Minn.; 24 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Harry and her husband, Foster. Death had previously claimed her parents, two brothers and a sister, leaving her as the only member of her family. Effie Grace Stephens was born to James and Esther Stephens May 29, 1871 in Allamakee county, Iowa. In August of that year she moved with her parents to David City, Nebr., where she grew to womanhood. She was married March 23, 1893 to Foster Taylor at David City. Early in the couple's life they became members of the Christian Church. In 1910 the family moved to a homestead 15 miles north of Witten. In the spring of 1916 she became a member of the Baptist church at Witten and took an active part in both church and community affairs. She was a charter member of Kensington club of Tripp county which was organized in her home. Her husband died in 1922. In 1928 she moved to Mellette county with her sons, Byron and Floyd, and made her home with them for a number of years. She became a charter member of the K.Y.N. club of Bad Nation community and took an active part until recent years. She moved to Wood in 1939 where she made her home until the spring of 1952 when the house in which she lived was moved to the farm of her son, Floyd, which permitted her to be near him. It was there she spent her final days. Published in Winner Advocate November 6, 1956
