Description	:	Eldon Louis Kruse, the son of Louis and Martha Kruse, was born on the family farm in Volga Township on May 16,1918 and departed this life at University Hospitals, Iowa City, on April 14, 1977, having reached the age of 58 years. Eldon was raised and educated in Volga Township graduating from the Littleport High School. After graduation he farmed with his father on the family farm. Eldon was raised and educated in Volga Township graduating from the Littleport High School. After graduation he farmed with his father on the family farm. On June 2,1939 he was united in marriage to Ruth Jacob at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader. Together they made a home for their children, Adrene, Karen, Robert and Mark. He farmed until 1974 when he moved to Evader. Eldon served on many farm related boards. He was a long time supporter of the Soil Conservation Commission, having been appointed Assistant Commissioner of the Clayton county Soil Conservation District Commissioners in December of 1957 and elected Commissioner on July 22,1970. He was serving his second term as chairman at the time of his death. He and his father were district co-operators in Volga Township as early as 1946. He also served on the FHA Board, as a 4-H leader, served on the Zoning Board of Clayton County, and served on the Central Community School Board from 1962 to 1965. Eldon was also an Insurance Agent for Clayton Communia Mutual Insurance. In 1976 he was elected as a •Clayton County Supervisor. Eldon was a member of Elkader Lodge No. 72, twice past Master and currently serving as Secretary, he was a member of the Ancient And Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry of Cedar Rapids, a member of the El Kahir Temple of Cedar Rapids, and a member of the Charity Chapter of Eastern Star in Elkader. Eldon was baptised in June of 1918 in the Lutheran Church of Elkport, and was confirmed on March 20,1932, in Peace United Church of Christ and has been a faithful member since He served his church in many ways, as a choir member, as a member of the Church Council and served on a variety of other committees He is preceded in death by one daughter, Adreane, in 1944. He is survived by his parents,'Louis and Martha Kruse; his wife Ruth; his children Robert and Ginger Kruse, Elkport; Larry and Karen Gruman, Cedar Falls, and Mark and Kathy Gratace, Guttenberg; five grandchildren, Lynna and Larra Gruman, Shawn Kruse, and Michelle and Marcia Gratace, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 16,1977, at Peace United Church of Christ with the Rev Marvin H. Marcks officiating. Burial was at East Side Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Julius Krause, Alfred Horstman, Les Klink, Carl Wessel, Alvin Meyer, Marvin Kuehl and Vernon Diers. Honorary pallbearers were: John Wildman, Roger Koster, Ed Coobs, Bill Sadewasser, Rocky Thein, Roy Ruegnitz and Ralph Kuehl.
