Description	:	Eldrick H. Grummert, the son of John and Frieda (Warneking) Grummert, was born on May 8, 1925 on a farm near Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on November 14, 2013 at Superior Good Samaritan Society, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 6 months, 6 days. Eldrick was baptized in May of 1925 by Rev. Stolz and confirmed in August of 1939 by Rev. Scholl at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior, Nebraska. He attended Smyrna Grade School and graduated from Nelson High School. He passed away on November 14, 2013 at Superior Good Samaritan Society, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 6 months, 6 days. Eldrick was baptized in May of 1925 by Rev. Stolz and confirmed in August of 1939 by Rev. Scholl at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior, Nebraska. He attended Smyrna Grade School and graduated from Nelson High School. When he was a child growing up on the farm he loved animals especially his first pony Tricksey. His mother passed away when he was 13, she seemed to know that she wouldn't make it during the birth of his baby brother, so she taught him cooking and house jobs around the house, especially washing dishes which happened to be his first job in the Army. He was inducted into the United States Army on June 14, 1945 and was stationed at Camp Grant at Rockford Illinois, which was a German prison camp. He was honorably discharged on December 3, 1946. Upon returning home from the service he married Elsie Rausher on July 14, 1946 in the Methodist Church in Nelson, Nebraska; and to this union a son Craig was born. Together they farmed for over 50 years, and he also raised and sold certified seed wheat for 35 years; he enjoyed seeing the improvements he helped make in the local area. Eldrick received the Nebraska Pioneer Award of continuous farming the family farm for 100 years. Eldrick was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Superior, serving as past President, Treasurer and Secretary of the Church Council; the Nelson American Legion serving as past Commander and Adjutant and Senior Citizens serving as past Secretary and Treasure. He was a 30 year 4-H leader and was honored the first male 4-H Leader recipient award in 1983. He was the first one from Nelson High School to earn an FFA State Farmers Award; and he also received the outstanding citizenship award in District 10 of the American Legion in 1995. He helped deliver Christmas Toys for Tots for 15 years, served on the Farmers Union Oil Board, Nuckolls County Farmers Union serving as past President and was a Red Cross Volunteer. Elsie and Eldrick enjoyed traveling; they had visited all 50 states, South America, Europe and Australia. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Craig on July 7, 2007; two brothers, Galen and an infant brother. He is survived by his wife Elsie of Hastings, Nebraska; brother Milvern and wife Aileen of Glenvil, Nebraska; granddaughter Cindy Luft and husband Jerry and three great grandchildren; niece and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
