Description	:	GARRISON — Eleanor Olson, 87, Garrison, formerly of Bowbells, died March 11, 2012, at a Garrison nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bowbells. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Read More	GARRISON — Eleanor Olson, 87, Garrison, formerly of Bowbells, died March 11, 2012, at a Garrison nursing home. Eleanor was born May 5, 1924, the daughter of Mathias and Anna (Hondl) Funk, on a farmstead located in Carter Township, Burke County, west of Bowbells. She graduated from Bowbells High School and later went on to business college in Fargo. Eleanor later worked as the Register of Deeds in Burke County. Eleanor has one son from her first marriage, Dennis Beck. She later married Verne Olson and had two daughters, Lori and Tammy. Verne had two daughters from his marriage to Alice Ross, so Eleanor gained two stepdaughters, Ramona and Virginia. Eleanor loved to travel with her brother, Leo and sister, Florence. She loved to go dancing with her husband, Verne. She also enjoyed playing bingo, cards, bowling and listening to music. She was a very active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bowbells. She worked with the ladies aid and also taught religion classes. She also helped with 4-H while her girls were involved. Eleanor was a wonderful cook and mother to all the children under her roof. Eleanor is survived by her brother, Leo Funk, Kenmare; numerous nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Leona Funk; her son, Dennis Beck, Utah; her daughters, Lori (Daren) Goodman, Mandan, and Tammy (Albert) Cannard, Okinawa, Japan; her step-daughters, Ramona Ellison, Jamestown, and Virginia (Terry) Ellison, Garrison; her grandchildren, Stephanie Eckert, Keith Ellison, Pamela Kolden, Jennifer Grote, Thomas Ellison, Katina Wolford, Brandina Messner, Jeanne Ellison, Elley Cannard, Jace Cannard and Kylie Beck; and her great-grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, Harley and Brady Eckert, Cayli, Casyn and Clay Kolden, Emily and Erika Grote, Koven and Kage Wolford and CaSara and Bryson Messner. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Verne; one sister, Florence; one brother, Arnold; and one grandson, Verne Ellison.
