BLANCHE EUBANK Elgie Blanche Curtis was born at Norwood Sept. 15, 1876, and passed away at the Story County hospital Aug. 5, 1961, at the age of 84 years, ten months and 22 days. She was united in marriage to John Orville Eubank Oct. 26, 1898. To this union two sons were born: James Olin, of East St. Louis, and Laurel G., of Maxwell. The husband and father preceded her in death Sept. 11, 1939. Besides her sons she is survived by three grandsons: Brig. General Ralph James Eubank, La Mirada, Calif.; Sgt. 1st Class Lawrence William Eubank, U.S. Army, Okinawa, Japan; and Chief Petty Officer John Russell Eubank, U.S. Navy, Great Lakes, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, James Ralph and Mary Ann, of La Mirada, Calif.; one brother, Clark Curtis, of Lucas; one sister, Mae Marker, of Chariton, a number of other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. Eubank moved to 338 N. 42nd, Des Moines, soon after the death of her husband, where she resided until, in failing health, she came to home of her son at Maxwell in November of 1960, where she was cared for until she entered the Story County hospital Aug. 3. Mrs. Eubank was baptized and confirmed in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in June, 1895, by Elder R. M. Elvin of Lamoni, where she was a loyal and faithful member. Until the time of her departure, she was a faithful wife and mother and was ever ready to sacrifice her own comforts in her devotion to her family and to her friends. She was ever loyal and gracious. The cheerful word to those with whom she came in contact is cherished by those who find comfort in the memory of her abiding friendship. Mrs. Eubank lived the life of a noble Christian character, being sustained during all the storms of her life by her unswerving faith in her Lord and Master until she lay down by the wayside, a weary traveler at the close of a long and faithful journey, and fell into that peaceful and dreamless slumber Sunday evening. Funeral services were held at the Cooper Funeral Home Aug. 8, with burial at Norwood. Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
