Description	:	Elihue, the son of John Campbell Cox and Nancy Dillon Cox, is here buried in the New Marshfield Cemetery, a few miles to the west of Athens, Ohio. His gravestone indicates he was a member of Co. B, the 62nd Ohio Infantry, Confederate States of America. If this was the case, this unit was no doubt an assembly of Ohio volunteers sympathetic with the Confederate cause during the Civil War period. Read More	Elihue, the son of John Campbell Cox and Nancy Dillon Cox, is here buried in the New Marshfield Cemetery, a few miles to the west of Athens, Ohio. His gravestone indicates he was a member of Co. B, the 62nd Ohio Infantry, Confederate States of America. If this was the case, this unit was no doubt an assembly of Ohio volunteers sympathetic with the Confederate cause during the Civil War period. However, we have information suggesting he may have been originally mustered into Co. K, 116th OVI in October of 1862, and later transferred to Co. B, 62nd OVI in June of 1865. How and why his gravestone was inscribed with C. S. A., will require further investigation. At any rate his gravestone represents a brief glimpse into the turbulent life of that period, 150 years ago. He married Drusilla Lowry in 1862 in Athens Co. To this union were born Elihue Ellsworth, Charlotte, Elijah William, Susan Belle and Leona Cox. Though Elihue, born in Monroe Co., Ohio, died in nearby Hocking Co., his body was returned to the New Marshfield to be buried with his family.
