Description	:	Elisha B. Pugh was a farmer. He was the son of William Pugh and Margaret James. His father died when he was a young boy (1823) and he had only one sister, Hannah (Pugh) Scott. He was a Private in Company D 74th Battalion of Ohio National Gaurd. He joined on the 13th of July 1863, and was hororably Discharged from the Military Service in said company by reason of Physical Disabilty on the 1st of June 1864. He was mentioned in a quit claim deed from his mother Margaret (James) (Pugh) Davison to William G. Scott in 1835 in Belmont County, OH. 74th Ohio Infantry: Organized February, 1862, under Colonel Granville Moody, it entered the field in April. The Regiment served near Nashville until the battle of Stone River, where it was actively engaged, sustaining a loss of over 100 men. It moved to Chattanooga in June, 1863, and participated at Chickamauga in September. It also took part in the assaults upon Lookout Mountain and Mission Ridge in November. In January, 1864, the men re-enlisted and went to Ohio on veteran furlough. In May, it joined Sherman's victorious advance upon Atlanta, and fought at Buzzard's Roost, Resaca, Kenesaw, Atlanta and Jonesboro. It then followed Hood northward, returned to Atlanta and marched to Savannah and through the Carolinas. After Johnston's surrender it entered the race to Richmond and was the third Regiment to stack arms upon the banks of the James, having averaged 32 miles per day on the march. It participated in the Grand Review at Washington and moved to Louisville, where it was mustered out July 10, 1865.
