HOBART DEAD Eliza Pratt, daughter of Isaiah and Polly Pratt, was born at Edwardsburg, Mich., Sept. 16, 1856, and died at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Feb. 29, 1916, aged 59y 5m 13d. While yet a child, her parents moved to Port Byron, Ill, where she grew to womanhood. On Jan. 11, 1876, at Rapid City, Ill, she was united in marriage to Ion F. Hobart, also of Ill. HOBART DEAD Eliza Pratt, daughter of Isaiah and Polly Pratt, was born at Edwardsburg, Mich., Sept. 16, 1856, and died at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Feb. 29, 1916, aged 59y 5m 13d. While yet a child, her parents moved to Port Byron, Ill, where she grew to womanhood. On Jan. 11, 1876, at Rapid City, Ill, she was united in marriage to Ion F. Hobart, also of Ill. To this union, four children were born, three sons and one daughter, the daughter dying in childhood in Illinois. In 1882, Mr. and Mrs. Hobart emigrated to Greene County and settled on a farm three miles southwest of Paton, where they lived for three years, and during that time, one son died. In 1885, they left the farm and moved to Paton, which was their home until the death of the husband, Oct. 31, 1914. Shortly after coming to Paton, another son died, leaving but one child living, Racine of Boone. She made profession Christianity many years ago, and in 1895 united with the Presbyterian church of Paton. For the past five or six years, she had been sorely afflicted, yet in all her suffering, has endeavored to face the future cheerfully and hopefully. During the years of affliction, she took a correspondence course in nursing, hoping thereby to minister to the afflicted. The past year has been spent in Boone and Des Moines. She leaves to mourn her death, one son; three grandchildren; three brothers; and many other relatives and acquaintances who knew and loved her as a neighbor. Her son, Racine and wife, and her brother, Frank, were the only immediate relatives able to attend. Her remains were brought to Paton Friday morning, and the funeral held from the Presbyterian church, Rev. S. J. Huffman officiating. Interment was in the Paton Cemetery beside her husband. Hobart is doing a nice millinery business at her home and requests all her friends to call on her and see her goods." The Jefferson Bee (Jefferson, Iowa); Wed., April 29, 1914; "I. F. Hobart had a stroke of paralysis which affected his left side and has confined him to his home. He has been in poor health for a year and his friends are much discouraged over this turn of his condition." The Grand Junction Globe (Grand Junction, Iowa); Wed., May 13, 1914; p.9 "Mrs. I. F. Hobart offers for sale at the tin shop Saturday afternoon, November 28, her husband's stock of goods and tools, also her millinery goods. Everyone turn out and make this sale a success. Helping her in this small way to lighten the great expense they have had to incur during the last few years of sickness. Don't forget the date, Saturday, November 28."
