Description	:	Roy's parents, Ion and Eliza Hobart, married in 1876. He was born in 1884. In the 1900 and 1910 U.S. Censuses both state that Roy's mother gave birth to four children, and in 1900 and 1910, only one child (Racine) was living. That means Roy died before 1900; perhaps about 1885-1886 after his family moved to Paton. Father's obituary: He married Eliza Pratt on January 11, 1876, in Rapid City, Illinois. They had four children, three boys and one girl. Their daughter, Juanita, died in childhood in Illinois. After remaining in business for a number of years in Illinois, in 1882, they moved to Greene County on a farm of eighty acres of land three miles southwest of Paton. They lived there three years, and during that time, sickness again entered their home, and one son, Walter T. died. In 1885, he desired to locate where he could work at his trade (that of a tinner) more successfully. Ion sold the farm and moved into Paton. After coming to Paton, death entered the family circle for the third time, and Roy C. was taken from the fond parents, leaving but one child, Racine, now of Walker, Minn., to be the child of their declining years. This son, with his family, arrived from Minnesota, but a short time before the father closed his eyes in death on Oct. 31, 1914.
