Mrs. E. Addie Hughes The funeral of Mrs E. Addie Hughes was held last Friday at the home on Highland Street and was private. She was born in Holderness, now Ashland, March 4, 1851, the daughter of John C. and Sarah Shepard. She married Frank L. Hughes. They had one son, Elmer E. who died a number of years ago. She leaves one nephew, Frank Shepard of Denver, Colorado, and grandnephew. David Shepard who came by airplane from Chicago to the funeral. Mrs Hughes was a prominent member of the Relief Corps and a member of Mt. Hope Chapter, O.E.S. Rev. John Chapin was the officiating clergyman and interment was in Green Grove Cemetery. The Plymouth Record, November 11, 1933, p2. In this obituary there are two errors. Her mother was Elmira and her son was Elmer C. As Mrs. Addie S. Hughes was riding on Mill Street near the Box Shop, Monday, the horse stumbled and fell, throwing Mrs. Hughes from the carriage. A few bruised and a broken thill were the extent of the damages, as far as reported. The Ashland Item, October 9, 1897, p5.
