Mrs. Elizabeth Winkler Mrs. Elizabeth Winkler, 58 years of age, wife of Julius Winkler, of near Potter, died Saturday morning, June 5th, at 1:15 o'clock at the Atchison hospital after an extended illness. Her death resulted from complications of diseases, and came five weeks after she entered the hospital. Mrs. Winkler was a splendid woman, and the mother of a large, capable and highly respected family. Mrs. Winkler was a splendid woman, and the mother of a large, capable and highly respected family. She was born near Lancaster, February 10, 1868, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kuhnhoff, early settlers in that district. She was married to Mr. Winkler December 1, 1887, and twelve children were born to them, eleven of whom survive: Mrs. Flora Lohman, of Potter; Carl Winkler, of Jarbalo, Kans.; Mrs. Fred Handke and Mrs. Henry Handke, of Atchison; Miss Lillian and Miss Rosina Winkler, of Atchison, and Misses Viola, Clara and Ellen and Albert and Emil Winkler, at home. A sister, Mrs. Emma Mayer, lives at Troy. There are also four brothers, W.A. Kuhnhoff, of Leavenworth; Henry and Louis Kuhnhoff, of Lancaster, and Charles Kuhnhoff, of Basehor, Kas., and sixteen grandchildren. Short funeral services were held at the home, followed by services at St. John's Lutheran church, near Potter, at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev. John T. Schmidt, pastor, officiating. Interment in St. John's parish cemetery.
