CREEK July 24 Our neighborhood was saddened on last Wednesday afternoon by the news of the death of Mrs. Josiah Beverage, which occurred about noon at the Western State Hospital, Staunton. She had been in ill health for more than three years, and her mind had become affected, so her family and physicians thought it best to take her to the hospital for treatment, but she continued to grow weaker in mind and body, living about six weeks after being taken there. Elizabeth Anne Beverage was born March 22, 1842, to the late John and Mary M. Beverage, of this place. She had lived a sweet, Christian life from Childhood and was loved and esteemed by all who knew her. She is known to have said that her father never gave her one rebuke, and her brothers and sisters can only recall deeds of leve and kindness received at her hand. Her home was one where Jesus was exhalted. We never remember visiting the home that something was not said to make us know she served the Lord. During these last years of affliction her talk was mostly of eternal things. She always requested song and prayer of those who would pray and sing with her. She is survived by a husband, Rev. Josiah Beverage, three sons, two brothers and two sisters. The remains were brought home on Thursday and interment took place Friday morning at 10 o'clock, in a new burying ground overlooking the house. Rev. A. A. Walker conducted the burial service.
