Read More	PIONEER WOMAN DIED FRIDAY AT CROWELL HOME Death Came Suddenly to Mrs. Ella Clark; Funeral Services Here Elizabeth Ellen Fleming was born in Delaware county, Indiana, Nov. 13, 1855, the second daughter of Phillip and Lucinda Fleming. She moved with her parents to eastern Iowa where she was married to Henry Clark at Earlville, June 4, 1882. To this union was born one daughter who died in infancy. A few days after her marriage she moved with her husband to Boone county, Nebraska, where they settled on a farm near Albion in District 2. They took into their home as a son, Ed Clark, when he was nine years old and reared him to manhood. Mrs. Clark and her husband retired from the farm and moved to Albion in the early 1900's. For a number of years she cared for her aged mother. Her husband preceded her in death in 1916. She lived in her own home and was able to care for herself until the fall of 1939 when she went to live with her niece, Mrs. R. I. Blatter. Since the spring of 1944 she has lived at the Crowell Memorial Home at Blair, where she was very happy and contented and made many friends. She was a member of the Baptist church in Albion since her marriage. She served as treasurer of the Sunday school and was active in other church work until her age prevented her attending services. At a Sunset Social, which she attended given by the church in 1943 she was honored as the oldest living member of the church. She was a life member of the WCTU. She was the last surviving member of her family of six brothers and sisters. She died suddenly at Blair, Friday, Sept. 21, 1945, at the age of 89 years, ten months and eight days. She is survived by her foster son, Ed Clark of Water Valley, Miss.; seven nieces and nephews, Miss Stella Burdick, Guy and Fred Burdick, Leslie Fleming, all of Lewellen; Roy Fleming of Oshkosh, and Mrs. O. G. Sherrill and Mrs. R. I. Blatter of Albion, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the Albion Baptist church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. E. H. Milton. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. (Albion Weekly News, Albion, Nebraska, Thursday, September 27, 1945)
