Lefever, daughter of Henry and Eliza Rohrer was born near Petersburg, Pa., October 5, 1862, and departed this life January 19, 1946. She grew to womanhood on the farm of her birth, surrounded by Christian influences. Her parents were members of the Dunkard Church, which was permeated with strict Puritan influences. She never joined her parents’ church, but always held great respect for those who worship in the “plain” churches, feeling that they could not wander far from the narrow path. February 12, 1889 she was united in marriage with Daniel M. Lefever, coming immediately to Strang to locate at the farm home which he had in readiness. Four children were born to this union, Paul, at home; Maude, Mrs. Orville J. Lewis of Ohiowa; Nora, Mrs. John R. Lefever of Osgood, Mo., and Ralph of Crapo, Md. Those also left to mourn are her sister, Mrs. Emma Huber of Lampeter, Pa.; four grandchildren: Warren of Geneva, Wayne, recently returned from overseas; Joh and Jean Lefever of Osgood, Mo.; and one great-grandson, Kenneth Lefever of Geneva. Mrs. Lefever did her part in rearing her children in an atmosphere founded upon the principles of Christ. In example as well as precept, she taught them from infancy to be strictly honest and to abide by the golden rule in all dealings with others. About forty years ago she affiliated with the United Brethren Church at Strang in which she retained her membership. She completed the equivalent of a ninth grade education and was a good reader which gave her a world that extended far beyond that of her immediate community. She understood and appreciated progress as it was developing, in science as well as agriculture, throughout her long life. She was a great lover of flowers and the out-of-doors. In April, 1907, her husband died and she continued to live on the home farm with her children, remaining there until the time of her death. About six weeks ago she contracted a light case of influenza. The day before her death she grew very weak, and was taken to the home of her daughter, Maude Lewis, where the end came. She slept continuously the last few hours of her life and through the last hour she was very peaceful with beautiful countenance.
