Read More	The Ulysses Dispatch, July 15, 1908, p. 3, col. 4 OBITUARY.- Died, near Ulysses, Neb., on Thursday, July 9, 1908, Elizabeth Josephine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gould, aged 24 years, 10 mos. and 5 days, leaving a father, mother, two sisters and two brothers to mourn their loss. Elizabeth, or "Bessie," as she was usually called, was born on Sept. 14, 1883, in McLean county, Ill., the family coming to Nebraska several years ago and living near Ulysses for a number of years. The passing away of this refined, Christian young woman after an illness of almost a year, is a severe blow to her many friends who had hoped for a restoration to health of one whom all had learned to love for her many excellent qualities both of mind and heart. Everything possible was done to effect a cure but the malady from the first seemed to be incurable. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved family who have twice within one year sustained the loss of a beloved daughter and loving sister. Bessie died as she had lived in the full assurance that "Underneath are everlasting arms" and that the Savior doeth all things well. The funeral services were held at the Ulysses Catholic church, Saturday at 10 o'clock a.m, the Rev. Father Murphy officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery. Forbear, dear friends, to mourn and weep While sweetly in the grave I sleep, Mourn not for me nor sorrow make, But pray to God my soul to take. A bitter grief, a shock severe, To part with one we loved so dear, Our loss is great, we'll not complain, But trust in Christ to meet again. - Edith B.
